Omnicell: CQC to a Pandemic

In May we held a speaker session at this year's virtual Clinical Pharmacy Congress titled "Omnicell: CQC to a Pandemic".

We were joined by members of the pharmacy team from University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire (UHCW) NHS Trust. The team shared their journey with Omnicell’s point of care of solutions and how the automated technology has supported them from improving their CQC inspection in 2015 to helping them respond to the demands from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Speakers and topics included:

  • Mark Easter, Chief Pharmacist and Divisional Clinical Director shared why UHCW decided to automate their management of medications across the Trust.
  • Bal Dhanda, Pharmacy Operations Manager discussed how UHCW implemented the new technology and shared the Trust's best practices.
  • Nixy Samuel, Medication Safety Officer discussed how automated solutions supported the Trust through the Covid-19 pandemic.
  • Mairaide Varney, Lead Nurse for Quality Improvement shared a nurses’ experience of using the automated point of care solutions and how the technology has made a difference to the teams’ day-to-day role on the ward and supported patient care.
